Kashmiriyat denotes mutual brotherhood: Omar | CM greets Sikhs on Guru Hargobind's Day | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 5 : Saying that 'Kashmiriyat' denotes religious tolerance, mutual amity, brotherhood and pluralistic ethos of Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today emphasized the need for strengthening this trait prevailing in the society since ages. "We have inherited the philosophy of 'Hindu, Muslim, Sikh Itihaad' as a legacy and we should nurture and transmit it to younger and future generations with a commitment", he added. Addressing on the occasion of Guru Hargobind Singh Ji's birthday at Chatti Padshahi here, the Chief Minister extended his greetings to Sikh community and wished peace and prosperity for the State and the Country. Omar Abdullah said that all religions preach justice, human values, amity and compassion. "We should contribute to help create a society based on justice and equity. Human values and amity should be our benchmark in all fields of activities", he emphasized and said that celebrating festivals and holy occasions in the State has been a phenomenon since centuries. The Chief Minister said that the cordial relation between Sikhs and majority community here has been significant. He said that attempts were made to disrupt this amity but both the communities showed maturity and commitment to brotherhood, and maintained the best relations. He also appreciated Sikh community for exhibiting maturity and foiling the nefarious designs of vested interests to create wedge between various communities. Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul, Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Devender Singh Rana and Legislator, Dharamvir Singh Obario were present on the occasion. |
