Kishtwar, July 5: Laila Khan disappearance case took a new turn today when the main accused, Parvez Tak broke down and confessed that all the 6 family members of Laila Khan, her mother Saleena Patel, sisters Nazima Patel, Zahara Patel, brother Imran Patel and cousin were killed by Asif Sheikh and his associates in Mumbai on February 9, 2011 in presence of him at Igatpuri form house and later buried their bodies some 130 km from Mumbai in a forest area.
Tak in his statement before Kishtwar police agreed that he had earlier dodged the interrogator, as he feared threat to his life from Asif Sheikh and his associates. He informed the police that because of fear to his life and family, he preferred to remain mum as Asif Sheikh had threatened him with life if he disclosed facts about murder of Laila and her family.
Tak said that among the killers of Laila Khan and her family, he only knows Asif Sheikh and Sonu. "Asif knows the other killers", he said.
Tak expressed willingness to identify the place of burial. He informed the police that the actress and her family members were killed by a pistol. "They first tried to remove the blood stasains from the floor of the farm house, but later set the part of the house on fire to destroy the evidence", he said.
Pleading innocence, Tak said Asif Sheikh assigned him the job of disposing off the vehicle for which he was paid Rs. 1.50 lakh. He informed that Asif and his associates along with him visited Jammu in two vehicles and stayed in a local hotel there. He said that they abandoned one vehicle near Nehru Market Jammu, while he drew Outlander to Kishtwar and hid it in a rented shop before police seized it on 29-05-2012
Maharashtra police has been informed about the latest revelation made by Parvaiz Iqbal Tak during his interrogation. Police said that they are verifying the confession statement. They are also looking for the dead bodies and the weapon of offence.
Nadir Shah Patel, father of missing actress Laila Khan, however, said that he feels that her daughter Laila Khan and other family members are alive. He said that Tak's statement could not be trusted and termed it misleading. Shah said Tak has often changed his statement. He is not in a position to accept his statement before the police as true.

Meanwhile, police registered a fresh FIR against accused Parvaiz Iqbal Tak for allegedly forging the PAN card of Nadir Shah Patel, father of Laila Khan. According to DySP Headquarters Abrar Ahmed Chowdhary, the FIR under relevant section of laws was registered against Tak after police recovered a PAN card during search of Tak's residence. Chowdhary said that the PAN card recovered from the possession of Tak is having his photograph pasted on it with his name as Nadir Shah Patel.

He said that during the course of investigation, Kishtwar police found that accused Parvaiz Iqbal Tak make fraudulent use of the PAN card in Kishtwar, Jammu and Mumbai and said that on the bases of the investigation, police slammed fresh FIR on him and produced him before Munsif Judge Kishtwar who sent him to 7 days police remand.

Earlier, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar, Ashwani Sharma refused to hand over custody of Parvaiz Iqbal Tak to Maharashtra police. The refusal from CJM Kishtwar comes in wake of weak legal grounds presented by the Maharashtra police.

After registering an FIR at Mumbai, 6 member team of Crime Branch Maharashtra led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sanjay Mohre arrived at Kishtwar to share details of investigation with Kishtwar police before they applied for transit remand.

Meanwhile, police in Kishtwar claims that after hectic efforts, they successfully managed to arrest Asif Sheikh from Bangalore. As per Parvaiz Iqbal Tak's statement, it was Asif Sheikh who killed Laila Khan and her family. Police in Kishtwar said that after arresting Asif Sheikh in Bangalore this morning, he (Asif Sheikh) is expected to arrive at Kishtwar in next two days. Police said that arrest of Asif Sheikh is vital in ongoing police investigation into mysterious disappearance case of Laila Khan and her family members.

It is worthwhile to mention here that in his earlier statement before Kishtwar police, Parvaiz Iqbal Tak claims that Laila Khan married to Sonu alias Wufi Khan son of close aide of underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim and have fled to Dubai on fake passport. Police is still keeping its cards close to the chest as they claim that police is investigating the case on all possible angles including terror.
