Delegates from various trade organizations interact with Madan Lal

Jammu, July 6: Various trade organizations related with and other private stake holders in tourism and pilgrimage, in Jammu, today had an interactive session with Madan Lal Sharma, Member Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Jammu-Poonch constituency, wherein problems facing by tourism industry and tourism promotion in the Jammu region were discussed.
Inderjeet Khajuria, President All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association brought to the notice of MP about their establishments suffering a heavy loss due to frequent prolonged power cuts, both scheduled and unscheduled.
He rued that these prolonged power cuts at a time when Shri Amarnath yatra is going on and good number of pilgrims are staying put in Jammu are facing great inconvenience and hardships due to these prolonged power cuts, several times even during the night.
Rajesh Sharma (Rajesh Bittu) chairman Border Tourism Promotion Committee also complained these power cuts and erratic power supply is adversely affecting tourism and pilgrimage.
The representatives of the organizations also complained about anti Jammu tourism and pilgrimage attitude of the authorities, particularly the traffic police, who were diverting all vehicles carrying pilgrims to Shri Amarnath shrine via Jammu by pass.
The result is that while about 25000 pilgrims daily are performing the yatra, hardly 2000 to 3000 of them leave from Bhagwati Nagar base camp and other places in Jammu for the pilgrimage.
And in the light of this fact the entire purposes of setting up base camp for Amamath pilgrims at Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar Jammu is defeated, only 10% of the total yatra rush leaves from Jammu.
The MPs' attention was drawn towards many roads and lanes in the city presenting horrible picture as a result of the same having been dug for laying sewerage pipe line by NBPC under ERA.
They complained about slow process of work on tourism related projects in Jammu including laying of artificial lake in river Tawi banks facelift and tawi park, Mubark Mandi Heritage Complex, laying of cable car from Mubark Mandi Complex to Bahu Fort and Mamaya hill top.
Similarly the project of development of heritage and historical Jio Pota site and Ambaran Buddhist site in Akhnoor is being executed at a very slow pace.
Congress MP Madan Lal Sharma assured them of taking up all their concern with the state as well as the central govt. and putting all his efforts to address the same
Among those present on the occasion included Ravi Mahajan Chairman, JPVM, Kuldeep Wahi President Jammu Hotels Resturrants Bar Association, Madhu Sharma President Jammu Bus Stand Shopkeepers Associations, Ashiq Hussain President Talab Khatikan Hotels Association and Davinder Choudhary Jammu Province Tourist Taxi Operators.
Meanwhile Madan Lal Sharma while interacting with Prominent Citizens, associations concerning hotels/public tourism management endorsed the concerns raised by them. He appealed the Chief Minister to intervene and resolve genuine issues relating to the problems being faced by the tourists of Amar Nath Ji Yatra and Mata Vaishno Devi during their stay in Jammu.
He demanded an early solution to the genuine issues of the masses on top priority, he also assured the gathering that the state Govt. will very shortly resolve the issues to minimize the misers of the people of Jammu region. Other dignitaries present were.
