AIDS camp held at Udhampur

udhampur, July 6 : In continuation to the awareness training programmes being organized by J&K State AIDS Prevention and Control Society, one day training programme was organized today for the FMPHW's of District Udhampur on HIV AIDS on 6TH July 2012, Friday by J&K State AIDS Prevention and Control Society in collaboration with District Health Society Udhampur at conference hall of ANMT School at Government District Hospital, Udhampur. Dr Arun Sharma Medical Superintendent Government Hospital Sarwal Jammu who is also the Master Trainer on HIV AIDS had a detailed interaction with the more than 110 FMPHW's present there and gave a detailed information regarding HIV AIDS. The women also interacted with him and had many myths and misconceptions removed. Ms Deepika Thakur Dy Director IEC State AIDS Control and prevention society J&K, Medical Superintendent Government District Hospital Udhampur Dr Chander Park-ash, Dy. Medical Superintendent Government District Hospital Udhampur Dr Deepak Kumar, other senior doctors and paramedical and medical staff and Mr. Ravi Shastri social activist district Udhampur were also present on the occasion. "Master Trainers" for HIV AIDS from J&K have been trained at Jamia Milia Islamia University, Delhi under GFATM Round - 7 component i.e Global Fund for HIV AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, & Malaria (GFA-TM) a foundation established under the laws of Switzerland (the "Global Fund") is a worldwide initiative. In India, this project supports National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) in prevention of AIDS. GFATM Round-7 focuses on primarily enhancing institutional and counselling capacities of training institutes in HIV/AIDS. This is for the first time that GFATM has partnered with institutions of higher learning who have established credentials in training and education of counsellors. Tata Institute of Social Sciences is the Principle Recipient(PR), of the Global Fund Programme, Round-7, Counselling Sub-component. Jamia Millia Islamia is a Sub recipient(SR) of the Global fund Project and has trained north zone master trainers. The SSRs for JMI to accomplish the task of training Master Trainers and Counsellors in HIV/AIDS counselling. are Aditi Mahavi dyalaya, Bawana, Delhi, Punjabi University, Patiala, University of Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, Post Graduate Institute for Medical and Research, Chandigadh, Bhagat Phool Mahila Vishwa vidyalaya, Sonepat).
