Black-marketing of Rail tickets: Six including Railway booking clerk detained | | | Early Times Report
Jammu/Katra, July 6: Five travel agents who used to procure confirmed tickets of express trains in bulk and sell them to travelers at higher price were arrested by Katra Police. A case under section 419,420 RPC stands registered against them. The arrested have been identified as Shuna Sharma son of Kunj Lal of Akhnoor, Sanjay Sharma son of Kodu Ram of Akhnoor, Sohan Lal son of Ved Prakesh of Udhampur, Vicky Ram son of Hem Raj of Udhampur and Manu Kumar son of Madan Mohan of Katra. Following complaint from one Suresh Kumar son of Om Prakash of Sunderbani, that some people are selling railway tickets to travelers at higher price, a raid was conducted by SHO Katra Ashok Sharma under the supervision of SDPO Katra Rajinder Singh Katoch, police sources said. Sources added during the surprise raid five person involved in this illegal trade were arrested and from their possession police recovered bulk of confirmed AC and non-AC tickets of different trains. Meanwhile on their disclosure police also detained railway ticket clerk namely Om Prakash for questioning. Pertinently, the same clerk was booked in 2004 when railway magistrate conducted raid. SSP Reasi Raguveer Singh when contacted said that the action was taken following he received complaint of black mailing of railway tickets in Katra. He further said that questioning of the arrested agents is in progress and more arrests and revelation is expected.According to police, the tickets were booked against fictitious names and the travelers is told to pose him/herself as the traveler against whose name the ticket was booked.
