Jaitley accuses Cong, Nehru for present J&K problem | | | early times report JAMMU, July 6: The Opposition leader in Rajya Sabha and senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley has made it clear that stand taken by BJP and the policies of Dr Shamaprasad Mookerjee is the only way to solve the J&K problem. Addressing a party activists meeting while laying the foundation stone of BJP's new Party Office at Trikuta Nagar here today, Mr Jaitely held former Prime Minister Pt Jawahar LalNehru and Congress responsible for Kashmir crisis. Out of 536 small states of British held India 535 were tackled by then Home Minister Sardar Patel except J&K which Nehru said will deal himself. He said all 535 states merged with India completely and they have no problem and it was only J&K which is still having the problem over merger. He accused Nehru of promising special status to the people of state and when the same was objected by then Jansangh leaders he replied that it will erode with the passage of time and same assurance was given by Gopala Swamy Ayanger in Lok Sabha who said it is a temporary provision. The BJP leader said that Article 370 was the main hurdle in the way of J&K's progress and had this Article not been there the investors could have visited in Kashmir to invest which would boost the economy of Valley and provide employment to youth. He said instead of doing any good the special status has harmed the interests of the people of all three regions of the state and BJP has been demanding right from beginning its abrogation. He said had Dr Mookerjee not started the agitation which resulted into his supreme sacrifices the permit system, would have not been abolished in the state. ``There would have been Sadar-e-Riyasat instead of Governor, Prime Minister instead of Chief Minister had the then Jansangh not taken a principles stand, he added. He said BJP has an emotional attachment with J&K as Dr Mookerjee laid down his life in J&K for its total integration with Indian Union and it will always be the top priority of the Party. Making a dig at Congress led UPA's policies on J&K he said throwing borders open where from infiltrators are coming to wage a war will prove suicidal. The Congress was making futile exercises and has no will power to settle the problem in J&K. Appointment of Working Groups organizing round table conferences and appointing interlocutors is no solution to the problem, he added. Questioning the report of interlocutors he said their suggestion to make borders open, name Pok as Pak Adminsitered Kashmir (PAK) , recommendation of repealing of central laws which came to the state after 1947 and replacing of Governor by Sadar Riyasat will prove dangerous and are a challenge to national unity and integrity. He said recommending regional councils for three regions was a welcome step as BJP has been demanding it right from beginning. This could lead to upliftment of the people in three regions and also end the discrimination complained by people of Jammu and Ladakh regions. But by naming POK as PAK was against the Parliament resolution of 1994 and unacceptable to the nation. The PoK is under the forcible occupation of Pakistan and as per Parliament resolution it is integral part of India, he added. He also questioned repealing of Central laws saying interlocutors report has been rejected by the majority of the people in the state as it will serve interests of none except the separatists. He said the BJP will have an air-condition office soon in Jammu and it will be one of the best party offices of the country. The BJP national general secretary (organization) Ram Lal, national general secretary and MP J P Nadda, Prabhari J&K Jagdish Raj Mukhi, Seh Prabharis RP Singh and Dr J P Jain, BJP state president Shamsher Singh Manhas, MLAs Ashok Khajuria, Ch Sukhnandan, Jugal Kishore Sharma, national executive member Dr Nirmal Singh, National Executive member and chief spokesman of the state Dr Jitendra Singh, general secretary Satish Sharma and Sat Sharma(CA) addressed the meeting. Earlier Mr Jaitely laid the foundation stone of the Office Complex in presence of senior party leaders.
