Madan convenes Vigilance Monitoring Committee meeting

JAMMU, July 7: Member Parliament, Madan Lal Sharma today chaired a meeting of the District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee held to review the progress achieved under various centrally sponsored schemes and programmes being funded by Union Ministry of Rural Development Department.
He took stock of the progress and steps being taken in implementation of various schemes of Rural Development in district Jammu.
Sharma impressed upon Rural Development Department and district administration to launch comprehensive awareness regarding advantages of centrally sponsored schemes in rural areas.
He exhorted upon the people to take maximum benefit of centrally sponsored schemes like SGSY, IAY, TSC, PMGSY, NRDWP, NRHM, MGNREGA etc for their socio-economic empowerment.
During the meeting, various decisions were taken to streamline rural development works being executed under various schemes.
The MLA raised issues and demands pertaining to their respective constituencies. The demands and issues included erratic power supply, bad conditions of road network and delay in construction of roads especially under PMGSY and lack of sufficient staff in various departments particularly in Education, Health, RDD, Power, CAPD, PHE, Forest and Urban Development etc.
The MP directed the concerned officers to redress the people's problems on priority basis and ensure timely and judicious utilization of funds, proper coordination with the public representatives at the grass root level and explore possibility to create resources for meeting the requirement of funds in case of exigencies.
He also laid stress on the MLAs and members of Vigilance and Monitoring Committee to extend co-operation and coordination in implementation of all CS schemes.
Members of the Monitoring Committee projected various demands being confronted by them seeking early redressal to the same.
The meeting was attended by MLAs Jughal Kishore, Ashwani Kumar, Sham Choudhary, Sukhnandan Choudhary, Bharat Bhusan, Indu Pawar besides District Development Commissioner, Jammu Sanjeev Verma, SE Hydraulic K. K. Gupta, SE PDD Gurbachan Singh, Project Officer Suram Chand Sharma, CMO Jammu Dr. Javed Akhtar, BDOs, SEs, XENs and other senior officers of concerned departments besides members of Vigilance and Monitoring Committee.
