Retd police officers pay tributes to first head of NIA 'Raju'

Jammu, July 7: To pay homage to first head of National Investigating Agency (NIA) Radha Vinod Raju, IPS, who expired on June 21 at Kochi, Kerala, the retired police officers under the banner of Retired Police Officers Welfare Association today assembled in DPL Jammu and remembered the departed soul.
The retired police officers including S S Sambyal, Retd SP and president of Association, Harichand, Prithviraj Sharma, Choudry Bachan, Makhan Lal (all retired SsP), Swatantrata Arora, Surjeet Singh , SS Parihar, R.K Bakshi- retired DySsP remembered the contributions of the late soul and offered floral tributes to him by garlanding the portrait of Radha Vinod Raju, IPS.Speaking on the occasion speakers recalled their association with Founder Director General of National Investigation Agency (NIA) R V Raju who was appointed on January 19, 2009 as the first Chief of NIA set up in the wake of 26/11 Mumbai terror strikes. Paying rich tributes speakers described the late souls as a 'professionally exceptional officer who successfully investigated many sensational cases.Pertinent to mention here that before being appointed as NIA Chief, Raju was the Director General (Vigilance) of Jammu and Kashmir.Besides observing two minutes silence, prayers were made to rest the departed soul in the peace and prayed to Almighty to grant the strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable emotional shock and loss. Other retired police officers of different ranks were also present on the occasion.
