Rs 60 cr NRDWP schemes under execution in Banihal: Taj | | | Early Times Report BANIHAL, July 7 : Rs. 60 crore worth of Water Supply Schemes (WSS) are under execution in Banihal constituency under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP). This was stated by the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Taj Mohi-ud-Din while addressing a public meeting here today. The Minister said the present government has embarked on a path of development for the entire state. He said far-flung areas are given due share in this process which have remained isolated during the past. Taj said 16 PHE schemes are under execution in Banihal under NRDWP. Out of them, he said, 3 schemes are expected to be completed within this year benefitting 15560 souls. For which, he said, Rs. 6 crores have been earmarked this year. Taj hoped that once completed all these schemes would not only suffice the drinking water needs of the hilly area but also provide surplus drinking water. The Minister said PHE department was the first to transfer functions and functionaries to Panchayat for efficient delivery of services. He said Panchayats have been entrusted with the job of supervising drinking water distribution in villages and asked the sarpahches to ensure the efficiency of services. He said the problems of causal and HR workers would be sympathetically looked into. Additionally, Taj announced a Water Supply Scheme for Tanjiwar-Zuban area costing Rs. 1.80 crore. He also announced Rs. 1.86 crore upgradation of Bhadarkote and Ashar Service Reservoirs. He also announced upgradation of Chanchal, Paristan, Badroo, Nagatra Water Supply Schemes in the area costing more than Rs. 10 crores. |
