| Bhalla distributes aid among physically challenged | | | JAMMU, FEBRUARY 02 Saying that the coalition government is committed to provide all possible assistance to the downtrodden and needy sections of the society, MLA Gandhi Nagar Constituency Mr. Raman Bhalla assured to help the underprivileged and provide them financial support. The MLA was speaking soon after distributing cheques among the physically challenged 300 beneficiaries who were provided cheques worth Rs 1200 each with effect from September 2006 to December 2006 amounting to Rs. 3,60,000. On the occasion Mr. Bhalla expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad for providing the much needed financial assistance to this section of the society. He said that due to the tireless efforts of Mr. Azad, the scheme could be implemented and benefit provided to the deserving. He said that the remaining beneficiaries including widows, physically challenged, old-aged pensioners, etc would also be covered soon and the benefit will be provided to them shortly. Mr. Bhalla said that efforts will be made to bring the left over areas under the scheme so that the sufferers could avail the benefits. Mr. Bhalla also thanked UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for taking keen interest in the welfare of the needy sections of the state. He said that because of their special attention a number of schemes have been implemented and benefits provided. On the occasion former Deputy Mayor Mrs. Rani Bloeria, Councilors Mr. Tilak Raj Gupta, Mr. P. Sharma, Mr. Kulbushan Sharma, Ch. Dawrika, Ms. Santosh Mahajan, Mr. Jaswant Singh Sodan, Mr. Mahinder Singh, Ms Rita Devi and Ms Asha Devi, District Social Welfare Officer, Jammu Mr. Khalid Jahangir and Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Ms Champa Sharma besides prominent citizens were present.
