Autorickshaw drivers overcharge at Bhaderwah | | | BHADERWAH, July 8: Autoricksha operators were alleged to be overcharging from the people here with impunity from law. Though most of these autorickshas are without electronic metres, traffic police are not taking any action against their drivers. "Despite promises made by them from time to time to make electronic metres mandatory in the autorickshas, transport authorities have so far done nothing in this regard," said Abdul Kabir Malik of Bhaderwah. Some autoricksha drivers said it was not possible for them to install electronic metres in their vehicles as each metre cost over Rs 3,000. "Autoricksha drivers were charging more than the fare fixed by RTO, Doda," said Koshal Dogra a political leader. Another passenger Masood Ahmed Sheikh said whenever he had asked the aytoricksha operator to charge fare from him as per the meter reading, he had refused to oblige. Bhaderwah SDM Ravi Bharti soon a fare list would be ossued for the autoricksha drivers. |
