Early Times Report

Jammu , July 8: In its consistent effort to showcase the great literary works of the local language be it plays. Stories or poems, Natrang today presented the theatrical adaptation of Dinu Bhai Pant's much celebrated Dogri poem 'Sher Pehlo Pahel Gaye'. Late Dinu Bhai Pant was indeed the most celebrated poet of the masses he was one of the pioneers who worked for the movement of giving Dogri language proper acknowled gement and recognition and appreciation. It was indeed a befitting tribute to the Dogri legendary poet. The play was adapted and directed by Dimple Sharma.
Through the play, the audience was transported to the city life of Jammu in early Forties which the poet has caricatured through the eyes of innocent villagers. Two villagers come to city in search of job, on arrival they were amazed to see the city life which was totally different from their simple village life. They were surprised to see the roads, buildings and even people who appeared alien to them. As they were not adept to the fast and busy life of the city, they had to face embracement at many places which shattered all their sweet dreams about city life which they had woven while listening to the flowery story from someone in the village. The gap between city life and village life in those times was very beautifully presented as the wonderful poetry, totally rooted in the life of those times was equally complimented with highly quality histrionics of the actors. They made the audience laugh and cry at the same time with their invocative performances. Dinu Bhai Pant has beautifully portrayed the fate of two village friends who visit the city for the first time.
Pawan Verma and Dimple Sharma played the roles of two villagers in highly impressive manner, demonstrating their hold over acting. They were supported by Mohd. Yaseen, Sushil Raina Romila Basnet and Rohit Verma who played different characters. The lights were operated by Rahul Singh. Sumeet Sharma coordinated the show and Pankush Verma presented the show before the audience.
