EJAC turns talks by union leaders as sellout | | | early times report SRINAGAR, July 8: EJAC leaders met here today to discuss the latest development with regard to the consideration of the demands of the employees. Suresh Sharma and Ajaz Khan regretted that the government, instead of considering the demands of regularization of daily wagers, ad-hoc, contractual and consolidated workers, removal of pay anamolies, conceding the demands of PSUs out of budgetary support and announcing decision regarding increase in the retirement age, had chosen to please some union leaders and executed another agreement with them which was a joke with the employees. The meeting, arranged by the leaders, was nothing but an attempt to weaken the employees' movement and confuse them. They cautioned the employees to be aware of the ill designs of the so-called leaders who were in the habit of playing with the sentiments of employees. They appealed the employees to remain united and wait for further programme to be announced by the SEJAC and EJAC after the state level convention to be held on July 16 next at Srinagar. It was reiterated that factionalism and mishandling of the issues by these leaders had led to the present state of affairs of the trade union movement in the state.
