JAKFED property misused in Delhi, Manohar maintains silence | | | SUMIT SHARMA Jammu, July 8: Dr Monhar Lal Sharma, Cooperative Minister, has allegedly given undue favour to the attached General Manager, Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Ltd (JAKFED), Girdari Lal Abrol, causing losses valuing crores of rupees to the department in particular and state exchequer in general. The alleged involvement of Abrol in another scam came into limelight when a complaint was lodged to Crime Branch Jammu against him for allegedly using fake letter head of JAKFED, permitting private party to do business on JAKFED's prime land of 485 square feet situated in C Block, Azadpur Sabzimandi, Delhi. The complaint was lodged by MD JAKFED on March 22, 2012, and its copies were forwarded to Principal Secretary to the Government Home Department, IGP, DIG Crime Branch and Special Secretary to the Chief Secretary for information, alleging there in that JAKFED bore loss of crores as the property allotted to it was misused by one Ashok Bansal. The matter came to limelight when Deputy General Manager of Kashmir and Assistant General Manager visited APMC Delhi to take possession of the property. Later it was found out that JAKFED letter head was being misused by some persons in JAKFED. In the letter head, there was mentioned the name of business development officer of JAKFED. Demanding probe, he further alleged that former MD of JAKFED was not aware of it as Abrol was behind it. Taking note of it, the minister had asked why the former MD did not narrate the episode. Any action was still awaited. However, a senior officer of Crime Branch when contacted said that the complaint had been forwarded to IGP Crime Branch for his approval to lodge FIR in this connection so that probe could be started. Meanwhile, a meeting of JAKFED Employees Union was held under the presidentship of Mohammad Iqbal Mir in which members regretted the prevailing circumstances in the JAKFED and alleged mishandling of its affairs by the minister concerned. As per a statement, the union leaders at one hand appreciated Ravinder Gupta for his commendable job as a Managing Director especially for employee-friendly policies like releasing of salary to the employees before the 4th of every month, on the other hand they regretted that the minister had failed to take any action against the corrupt officers.
