Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, July 8: In reaction to the news story on inauguration of the senior Hurriyat leader Aga Syed Hassan's shopping mall by senior mainstream politician and Minister of Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir, in presence of DC Budgam and SP Budgam, Aga's son and functionary of his Anjuman-e-Sharee Shia'an, Aga Mujtaba, has claimed that the mall at Budgam was inaugurated by the Hurriyat leader himself. He has claimed that the Minister was only a guest at the inauguration on July 6th.
Aga Mutajaba claimed in a statement mailed to Early Times: "News published in some of daily news papers of Jammu & Kashmir on 7th July 2012 regarding inauguration of A.S.H Mall Budgam. It was wrongly stated in the news that said Mall was inaugurated by Agriculture Minister Gulam Hassan Mir despite the fact that Mall was inaugurated by Hujatul Islam Aga Syed Hassan Almosvi Alsafvi. Mir was invited in the function as a respectable guest in personal capacity and he attended the function with same zeal. Therefore, keeping the ethics of journalism in consideration all those press establishments are requested to correct the news based on facts and do justice with their profession and restrain from publishing baseless news items". He has also sent a photograph that shows Aga Syed Hassan cutting the ribbon.

Government, however, has been tightlipped over the controversy getting hot in local media and national television. On July 6th, it was none other than Directorate of Information that made the inauguration of the Hurriyat leader's shopping mall by Minister of Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir public vide its press release No:PR/DI/2012/1704/pz/hlb/. It verbatim reads:

"Mir inaugurates Aga Syed Hassan Mall, says Govt. has infused confidence in local investors

Asking the people to extend full support for maintaining peaceful atmosphere in valley, Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir on July 6 had said that peaceful atmosphere has boosted confidence among the local investors to make investments in their inherited places.

Mr Mir said investment in different viable sectors in J&K is the only solution to address the unemployment issue as well as it would help to strengthen the economy of the state.

The Minister said this while inaugurating the Aga Syed Hassan Mall at Budgam and Mirch-Masla Restaurant at Dhobiwan Tangmarg. He said peace is pre-requisite for investors adding that now people of the valley are very much aware that "if they have to compete with other parts of the world for which they have to work collectively for maintaining peace in the state". He said this could only motivate the investors to invest in J&K.

Appreciating the efforts of local investors of the valley, Mr Mir said that they are now investing very enthusiastically across the state citing the example of Narbal Tangmarg road, where dozens of shopping malls and show rooms of Kashmir handicrafts have been opened. He said this has also increased the tourist influx to the area and also provided ample employment opportunities to the local youth.

Speaking on the occasion, Aga Sayed Hassan Al Safvi said the objective of setting up of mall in district Budgam is to infuse movement in economic activity in the area and provide employment opportunities to the local youth. He said that "we have to work collectively together for progress and prosperity of the people although having differences on political considerations".

Aga Mujtaba, DDC Budgam and SSP Budgam also spoke on the occasion"
