DC chairs meeting to discuss I-Day arrangements | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 9: Deputy Commissioner (DC), Jammu Sanjeev Verma today chaired a meeting of officers of different departments convened to discuss the arrangements for the celebration of Independence Day 2012 in Jammu. SSP Traffic Manmohan Singh, SSP PCR Sham Sunder, Joint Commissioner Babu Ram, SE PDD Gurcharan Singh, SE PHE Vinod Luthra, RTO Verinder Slathia, SP City J. S. Johar, SP CID Joginder Singh, Additional Secretary Cultural Academy Savita Bakshi, CEO Jammu N. R. Dingra, Deputy Director Information R. S. Jamwal, Deputy Director H&P A. K. Koul, District Officers of different departments and senior officers of Police, Army and CRPF attended the meeting. It was decided in the meeting that the main function would be held in the premises of Mini Stadium Parade, where the VIP would unfurl the National flag followed by march past by the contingents drawn from District Police, SKPA, Forest Protection Force, NCC and students of various schools. The school children would also present cultural programmes depicting rich cultural heritage of the state as well as the country. Threadbare discussions were also held regarding arrangements of seating, barricading, security, traffic regulation, drinking water and power supply, sanitation, first-aid, deployment of buses and fire-tenders etc. The JMC was asked to make available mobile toilet vans at the venue for the convenience of the visitors and participants. The provision for a well equipped ambulance with a team of doctors was also asked to be made available on the day. Mr Verma directed the engineers of R&B, PHE and PDD to ensure elaborate arrangements of barricading, seating and drinking water, besides uninterrupted power supply on the day. JMC was asked for proper cleanliness of the venue and city well in advance. District and Traffic Police would make security and traffic regulation on the day. Important Government buildings would be illuminated in the evening on the auspicious day, the meeting decided. Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed upon the officers of various departments to celebrate the function with patriotic spirit, make close rapport and coordination between different agencies so that all arrangements required for the conduct of National function are made well in time. He also called upon the officers and employees of all departments to remain present on the day of function. |
