Augment healthcare facilities on yatra route: Guv to officials | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, July 9: Concerned over death of pilgrims during the ongoing Amarnath yatra, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today directed the authorities to take urgent steps to address significant health-related issues pertaining to the pilgrimage. Vohra, also chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, chaired a high-level meeting here in this regard, an official spokesman said. The Governor said all possible causes for deaths should be analysed with a view to reducing the number of fatalities. He directed SASB CEO N K Chau dhury to issue immediate instructions to all concerned officials in yatra camps to further augment healthcare facilities. The detailed break-up of deaths reflected age-wise and location-wise was presented at the meeting. It was noted that persons of different age groups had expired due to cardiac arrest. The meeting was told that more than 1000 oxygen cylinders had been made available on the two routes to the shrine by the health department |
