Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, July 10: Reacting to the news item published in "Early Times" on June 30, 2012, the Hyderabad based company GVK Construction which has been awarded with the contract for construction of prestigious 850 MW HEP to be constructed in Drabshala Village of Kishtwar District said that the work on the power project is at its advance stage and will be completed well within stipulated time.
GVK in its communication to "Early Times" said that the company faces no problem in arranging funds for construction of Power Project. GVK said that JKSPDC has to give land on lease to GVK so that major works can be started. The company said that they are not making any efforts to mortgage the land to be handed over on lease basis for development of the project.
GVK officials said that the company has already paid INR 34.5 Crore towards land premium in two installments as per the requisition of JKSPDC and GVK is in the process of paying INR 14.0 Crore in installment as per the requisition received from JKSPDC very recently. They said that the payment to contractors is being released regularly provided the contractors meet the statutory requirements. The company also denied the claims made by MLA Inderwal G M Saroori and collector land accusation in which they claims that the company has to submit Rs. 120 Cr for rehabilitation plan. As per company statement, approval of R&R Plan by Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir at an estimated cost of INR 20.0 Crore is in the advance stage and it is not INR 120.0 Crore told by MLA Inderwal and Collector during public meeting at Drabshala on 25-6-2012 and reported in the paper. They said that the company is not blaming the state government for any delay and said that GVK is holding regular meetings with JKSPDC and other departments and apprising them of the progress of the project.
GVK said that the construction work shall start once all the clearances are in place. "The Hydro Projects are guided by the policy of the state Govt and Central Govt. Major tenders have already been invited and as soon as the clearances are in place the work shall be allotted and started," the company statement added.
