Jammu, February 03 A meeting of working group on strengthening relations between the State and the Centre was held here today under the chairmanship of its Chairman Mr. Justice S. Saghir Ahmad. The working group has been constituted by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh after conclusion of second roundtable conference held at Srinagar. The meeting was attended by Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz, Union Minister for Water Resources (representing Congress), Mr. Ashok Khajuria (BJP), Mr. Muzaffar Hussain Baig (PDP), Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami MLA (CPIM), Mr. Abdul Rehman Takroo MLC (CPI), Sheikh Abdul Rehman (SP), Mr. Harshdev Singh MLA (Panthers Party), Mr. Usman Majid MLA (PDF), Haji Nissar Ali, Minister for Social Welfare (representing Ladakh region, Kargil), Mr. Thupstan Chhewang MP (representing Ladakh region, Leh), Mr. Ajay Charangoo (representing Kashmiri Pandits), Ch. Mohammad Aslam MP (representing ST), Mr. Zaffar Iqbal Manhas (Paharis), S. Surender Singh (representing Sikh community), Mr. Ashwani Kumar MLA (Jammu Mukti Morcha), Mr. Tara Chand, Speaker Legislative Assembly, (representing SC community), Mr. Yashpal Bhagat (BSP) and Sardar Rafiq Khan (Paharis). In addition, Mr. Ajit Kumar Coordinator and Mr. N. N. Vohra also attended the meeting. The meeting discussed threadbare various issues pertaining to the State and Centre relations. All the members put forth their views in a free and frank manner. The meeting lasted for four hours. |
