| Gupta chairs Subordinate Legislation meeting of LA | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, July 10 : A meeting on Subordinate Legislation of Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held under the Chairmanship of MLA, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta here today. Threadbare discussion was held on decreasing girl child sex ratio and other issues pertaining to Health and Medical Education departments. Legislators, Zahoor Ahmed Mir and Ch. Zulfikar Ali gave their valuable suggestions to improve the functioning of the committee.
The Committee was informed that the J&K State has also introduced new initiatives by which any person who informs about the occurrence of sex determination tests, female foeticide at any place shall be given Rs. 50, 000/- as award under NRHM, besides stringent measures for the laboratories where such tests are being conducted shall be sealed . The Committee stressed upon the members to organise seminar, rallies and debate for sensitizing to save the girl child at school level on regular basis to educate the prospectives to the parents.
The Committee described that girl child care under NRHM which is primarily focused on maternal and child health care, besides various initiatives have been taken to implement the PC&PNDT Act in the State and to generate awareness on this issue, targeting the fraternity, health care service providers and the general public.
Commissioner Secretary Law, G.H. Tantray, Secretary, Health & Medical Education, M.K. Dwivedi, Director Health Services, Jammu and Srinagar, besides senior officers of the concerned departments and Assembly Secretariat were present in the meeting. |
