More than 16,529 yatris leave base camps for holy cave | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, July 10 : More than 16,529 pilgrims left Nunwan-Pahalgam and Baltal base camps early this morning for holy Amarnath cave shrine, where about 3.20 lakh yatris had darshan of the self-made Ice-Shivlingam till last evening since the commencement of the annual pilgrimage on June 25. A Met department spokesman said here today that the sky will remain generally cloudy on both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal routes with one or two spell of rains. A yatra official said 7,978 pilgrims, including women, children and sadhus left Baltal for holy cave at 0500 hrs this morning. He said 8,551 yatris, including women, children and sadhus, left Nunwan Pahalgam early this morning for Chandanwari, the last motorable halting station on the traditional route. He said those yatris who had night halt at different halting stations enroute also started their onward journey this morning while those who had darshan also started their return journey. About 3.20 lakh pilgrims had darshan of the Shivlingam till last evening since June 25. Majority of them have returned back and left for their homes while other are visiting tourist resorts in the valley. |
