| People resent irregularities in acquiring land | | Widening of Bhaderwah-Bani-Basohli road | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
BHADERWAH, July 11: District administration Doda is under criticism from the people whose land is being acquired for the widening of the Bhaderwah-Bani-Basohli road. According to local people district administration is acquiring the land for the road widening only of those people who are poor and non-influential while big wigs are spared. Local people of the area have demanded legal proceedings against the officers of the administration who have adopted pick and choose while acquiring the land for the widening work.
One Raiz Najar alleged that GREF which is working for the widening of the road on the direction of district administration acquired his 10 feet of land for widening work , whereas his next door neighbours are spared from land acquisition. Another resident of the same locality Shaista said that land and shops on upper side of the Bhaderwah-Bani-Basohli road is being acquired without the consent of the owners where as land, shops and houses below the road are spared the reason best known to administration and demanded land should be equally acquired for the widening of the road if not they will knock the door of court to seek justice.
Locals of the area also added that district administration is also throwing the rules and norms to winds while executing the widening of the road. They said that there is clear and cut judgment of the Supreme Court that land should be acquired only if the owner is willing to give and no pick and choose policy will be adopted but in widening work of the Bhaderwah-Bani- Basohli road and of only poor and less influential people is being acquired. |
