| Yaseen orders suspension of ARTO Rajouri | | Expresses shock over accident | | JAMMU, February 03 Minister for Transport Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has ordered suspension of Assistant regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Rajouri for his negligence in checking the overloading menace, which caused death of 19 passengers in a road accident on Friday near Nowshera in Rajouri district. He also recommended to the Home department for suspension of traffic inspector Rajouri and serious action against those local police and traffic police personnel who were on duty on the day accident occurred. Taking serious note of the negligence of the concerned authorities, the Minister said that government would take serious action against those police, traffic police and Motor Vehicle Department officials who fails to check the overloading menace or would be responsible in issuing the fitness certificates and permits to the transporters who do not fulfill the requisite eligibilities. Mr. Yaseen expressed profound grief over the tragic road accident in Nowshera. He expressed condolences and shock over the accident and conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families and directed the authorities to provide adequate medicare facilities to the injured passengers. The Minister issued directions for investigation of cause of the accident and fix the responsibility of negligence so that action is taken against the responsible persons. He asked for taking immediate measures to implement the traffic rules strictly to minimize occurrence of traffic accidents in the state particularly in district Rajouri, Poonch and Doda besides on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. He also directed to enforce traffic rules with full force besides mobilizing all agencies for launching special drive against the traffic violators. |
