JKDF demands release of additional water for irrigation | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 11: To assess the developmental activities and other major problems being faced by the villagers residing in Satwari block, the activists of Jammu Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) today carried out a visit of the area.During the visit various meetings and interactions are held with the people of the twin villages by Deepak Sharma, District President Jammu Rural JKDF along with other party workers. Deepak Sharma demanded immediate release of additional water through Borhi Tawi Channel to meet the requirement of the farmers for sowing of their paddy crops as present supply of water through existing canal channel is not meeting the requirement of the villages Sohanjana, Malwal etc. located at the tale end of Canal. Sharma demanded immediate release of additional water as due to poor monsoon these villages are facing acute shortage of irrigation water. He also demanded posting of teachers at Govt. High School, Sohanjana as seven teachers are working against the sanctioned strength of 24. JKDF leader also criticized the PWD authorities for not repairing/black topping of Mandal Malwal Road as due to heavy rains these roads are damaged and become hub of rain water pits. The Government has also not taken any step for the repair of Bridge on Nikki Tawi which is also in critical condition, he added. |
