Excursion bus overturns 3 killed, 50 injured | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, July 11: At least three people, including a student, were killed and 50 children were injured in a tragic bus accident at Nambal Nard area of Tangmarg in North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday. As per reports the Driver of the bus, a teacher and a 5th class student were killed when the ill fated excursion bus bearing registration number JK014- 6144 carrying students and staffer of the Iqra Educational Institute of Khumriyal Lolab in Kupwara district met with an accident in Nambal Nard area of Tangmarg of Baramulla district. "The bus was on way to Baba Reshi shrine near Gulmarg when it fell into the gorge at Nambal Nard near Tangmarg, 45 kms from Srinagar," officials said. They added the rescue teams managed to evacuate 53 persons - students and staff members - to a hospital. However, two of the injured, 25-year-old teacher Jehangir Dar and 14-year-old student Owais Ahmed Wani, son of Manzoor Ahmed Wani of Cherkoot in Lolab were declared dead in the hospital, they said. The bus driver, Muhammad Akhter Ganie son of Muhammad Akbar resident of Kalaroos, succumbed to injuries later, while four others seriously injured had been referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment. The other injured children were taken to the nearby hospital for treatment. Reacting to the tragic incident, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted: "Very tragic news about the accident of the bus of Iqra Public School. May Allah grant Jannat to the departed & a complete recovery to rest?" In a statement sent to Global News Service said that Mohd Shafi Rather orders cancellation of registration and withdrawal of recognition of Iqra Public School Khumryal following the tragic bus accident.
