JYM alleges OSD’s involvement in JU 'tiles scandal' | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, July 11: Jammu Youth Morcha (JYM) has alleged that Jammu University authorities have been trying to shield the accused in much touted 'tile fixing case.' Addressing the media persons here today, JYM president Sanjay Sharma alleged that in the said case the State Vigilance Organization had booked Suresh Sharma Incharge Executive Engineer, Akash Bhola Assistant Engineer, Virender Singh Wazir Junior Engineer of University Works Deptt and Karam Chand contractor for withdrawal of Rs 3, 49, 376 against non-executed work in the University. Sharma further alleged that OSD to Vice Chancellor, Jai Kumar was Joint Registrar Finance, when the amount was withdrawn for the said works and he should also be questioned. He said, Jai Kumar used to put objections on various bills. We need as explanation that how he accorded withdrawal for this project without proper verification." "Moreover the authorities have got the tiles fixed overnight and still no action has been taken against the persons involved. We urge the, Chancellor, Governor, NN Vohra to look into the serious matter," said Sanjay Sharma. Sharma further alleged that the tiles were laid in hurry on the directions of Jai Kumar after the scandal came to light. He requested Vice-Chancellor to immediately rectify his mistake of appointing Jai Kumar as OSD and save the prestigious University from the clutches of corruption.
