Mass Copying Scam

Jammu, July 11 (JNF): Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Kartar Singh has granted bail to Shamsher Singh who was deployed as Supdtt. in examination center for 10th class Private Annual 2012 at Kirpind Tehsil RS Pura who was arrested by the Crime Branch in much publicized mass copying scam. According to the Crime Branch Case that an information from a reliable source was received today at Police Station Crime Branch, Jammu to the effect that one person namely Prabjot Singh S/O Gurdeep Singh R/O Kotli Shahdowla, R.S.Pura is impersonating himself as Parvinder Singh and sitting in the examination hall besides some other students who are indulging in mass copying in connivance with the Centre Superintendent and other staff members deputed by the State Board, for the conduct of examination at centre No 245 New Model Institute of Education, Khir Pind, R.S.Pura, where examination of Mathematics subject of Class 10th (Jammu Annual Private-2012, Summer Zone) is going. After lodging FIR NO 14/2012 u/s/s 419, 420,120-B/RPC Sec 5 of P.U.E Act 1987 and section 5(2) P.C Act Svt. 2006. It is further submitted in the report filed by the Crime Branch that Parvinder Singh was also arrested and questioned during which he admitted that he had paid 20,000 Rupees to Center Supt Shamsher Singh. The other students who were copying on mobile phones were examined during which they admitted that they had paid Rs 10,000 to 20,000 each to the Supt Shamsher Singh. Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Kartar Singh after hearing both the sides observed that admittedly the allegations of corruption are always serious but offences alleged to have been committed by the accused carrying maximum punishment up to Seven years and such is not severe.. Court observed that further custody of the petitioner-accused is not warranted and granted bail and directed him to furnish bail and personal bonds to the tune of Rs 50,000 each.
