Court work affects due to non-appearance of advocates | | | Jammu, July 11 (JNF): Advocates abstain from work in the Courts including High Court in support of call given by Bar Council of India against the move of the Central Govt. in proposing bills a) Higher Education Research Bill-2011, The National Accreditation Regulatory Authority for Higher Educational Institutions Bill, 2010; and "The Foreign Educational Institutions (Regulation of Entry and Operations) Bill, 2010; and The National Law School Bills, 2011, as also b) the J&K State Govt.'s passing of The Jammu and Kashmir (Residential and Commercial Tenancy Act-2012). Due to non-appearance of the advocates work in the Court remain affected. The abstention from work was complete as Lawyers across the Country responded to the Bar Council of India call. President Bar Association Jammu B.S.Slathia leading the protest urged the Central Govt. to review its move to usurp the powers and functions of the Bar Council of India. According to Vikram Sharma, General Secretary Bar Association Jammu that BAJ support the cause taken up by Bar Council of India towards preventing the Govt. intervening in the matters related to legal education and its standards in India. He also urged the Bar Associations across the State to support the call of Bar Council of India with a view to send strong message to the Govt. against their proposed move against the intervention of Judicial Institution and Legal Profession in India. He informed that the Lawyers will abstain from work tomorrow also as has been resolved by the Bar Council of India. Meanwhile Bar Associations across the Districts and Muffasils in the State have also responded to the call of the Bar Council of India.
