Geelani misleading people on Pandits: Omar | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 11: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said hardline Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani was misleading people on return of Pandits to the Valley. Addressing a rally here on the 12th death anniversary of his grandmother, popularly known as Madr-e-Meherbaan, Omar challenged Geelani to raise his voice against the settling of Pakistanis in PoK. "Tell the Pakistani government to send back the people from Punjab and Sindh from the part of Kashmir under its control," Omar dared the hardline separatist leader. The Chief Minister alleged Geelani was misleading the people about government's efforts to bring back Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley. Omar vowed he would not allow anyone to alter the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Geelani had alleged the Centre was planning to settle RSS and Sangh Parivar members in the Valley under the garb of return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits to change the Valley's demographic character. The Hurriyat hawk had claimed that this was part of an Israeli suggestion to the government. Reacting to the charge, the Chief Minister said it was common knowledge how Pakistan had altered the demography as well as geography of Jammu and Kashmir."What Pakistan has done to Kashmir is known to everyone ... One part of Kashmir has been gifted to China. Why don't they tell China to return it," he said. |
