Diatribe against Pt Nehru by BJP, Kamaal: Cong response meek ,meaningless… | New Delhi takes 'late reaction' as bankruptcy of leadership | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 11: Even J&K PCC's response to the NC leader Mustafa Kamaal's offensive and anti Congress statements came on proverbial better late than never lines, a perturbed New Delhi is understood to have taken harsh notice of the fact that its party leadership doesn't react in the same tone and tenor nor promptly to the anti Congress tirade by various parties in J&K lately. New Delhi is particularly perturbed over diatribe against Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru first by BJP leaders followed by the leader of its own ally in Jammu two days back. Sources said even though Congress leaders including the spokesperson and JKPCC general secretary Ravinder Sharma reacted to Mustafa Kamal's uttering but the High Command, which is learnt to be taking serious report of the political developments in Jammu and looking at these with an intent to malign and weaken Congress in the state, has seen this reaction as inadequate and not meaningful to match and hit the uttering of BJP as well as NC against Pandit Nehru. The High command, sources said is also viewing it as deficit of leadership and bankruptcy of 'meaningful and politically competent leaders' who could have countered such diatribes against the party and its stalwarts vis-à-vis Congress' role in J&K . Sources said the High Command has begun to take serious note of factionalism and groupism in the state unit as it feels such void and bankruptcy of leaders with calibre and political acumen who can counter adversaries with a punch , is a result of this problem which is ailing the party badly on all counts and at all levels. No reaction or late response until the damage is done over offensive of BJP, NC or even PDP is being viewed as something due to the entire Congress unit having virtually defunct in the state in both the regions . Sources said party high command feels the state leadership be that PCC functionaries, MPs or the reticent and docile ministers in the coalition are more active only in sycophancy or negatively engaged in deepening factionalism. Even though JKPCC chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz has tried to make some damage control efforts and convinced the quarters in New Delhi that due to pre occupation of the party who are vocal and prompt in countering such statements in equal and loud manner , this excuse has not been taken well in certain quarters in New Delhi who are keen on following Rahul Gandhi's 'vision' for sensitive state the aim of which is to make Congress a stronger organization in future to counter the regional parties in this sensitive state. Prof Soz's defensive approach in justifying delay in sharp reaction from Congress vis-à-vis the diatribe of Mustafa Kamaal , BJP leaders, sources added is being seen as a meek explanation and the reaction of the leaders on Tuesday as not meaningful and hard hitting as would have been there , particularly for name of late Pandit Nehru. It is pertinent to mention here that few days back it was first BJP's chief spokesperson Dr Jitender Singh who gave a statement outside the State while he was participating in a seminar organized by the party in which he stated that Pandit Nehru was in favour of abolishing Art 370 and even considered it as a temporary provision. This was followed by the hard hitting statements again against Pandit Nehru by BJP's stalwart Arun Jaitely during his recent visit to Jammu in which he held the former responsible for troubles ailing J&K , particularly Kashmir problem. And worse shock came to Congress when the leader of its partner Kamaal simply undermined the role of Pandit Nehru and said it was the Parliament not any individual that gave J&K special status which has been eroded by successive rulers, indirectly hitting out at Congress. |
