PIL seeks recovery of sales tax arrears worth crores | DB allows two weeks time to file list of defaulters | | Jammu, July 12 (JNF): In a PIL filed by Balvinder Singh & Ors in the State High Court in which the petitioners seek direction to the Commissioner/Secretary Sales Tax, Commissioner Commercial Tax J&K, Deputy Commissioner Commercial Tax Recovery Srinagar, Deputy Commissioner Commercial Tax Recovery Jammu, SSP Srinagar & Jammu to recover the amount of Sales Tax & Vat from all the defaulters, who had failed to pay the sales tax under the J&K General Sales Tax Act and J&K VAT Act, a Division Bench of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Jammu Wing comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir after hearing Additional Advocate General Gagan Basotra appearing for the respondents whereas Rahul Chopra Liaison Officer Commercial Tax present in person observed that the instant application which Deputy Commissioner Commerical Taxes (Recovery) Jammu seeks extension of time for compliance of order dated June 15, 2012 by the High Court (whereby Division Bench directed Chief Secretary of the State to file within two weeks the list of those persons from whom recovery has been effected with effect from April 1st, 2011 till the date of the filling of the status report), granted two weeks time for compliance of earlier dated June 15, 2012. |
