Make list of pensioners public: Freedom Fighters Association | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 12: Freedom Fighters Association of J& K has demanded that a detailed list of those persons should be made public who are being paid pensions under the central scheme of pensions to freedom fighters in the state because contradictory reports have appeared in the press with reference to the Ministry of the Home Affairs of the Central and that of the figures given by the state government. Ved Gandotra President of the association pointed out that in the report of the Home Ministry the number of beneficiaries under this scheme in J&K have been put at 1807 but on the contrary the number of beneficiaries have been given by the state government in a reply to a question in the legislative council as 888. He said the funds are being provided by the centre for such pensioners Hence the state government should made it clear that where the funds of remaining 919 persons are being utilized or diverted. Gandotra also impressed upon the government authorities to explain that who are the persons being given such pensions for fighting freedom of the state and since when they are getting this pension because there is on category in the central scheme for the freedom of a particular state but was for the freedom of the entire country viz India. |
