Displaced Pandits to repay Geelani in same coin | KP organizations holding parleys to launch united movement for homeland | | ET Report JAMMU, July 12: In view of the recent outbursts of Hurriyat hardliner faction leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani fixing conditions on return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits to Valley and opposing their settlement in certain colonies, Kashmiri Pandits are re-thinking on forming a joint front to intensify and accelerate the struggle for separate homeland for over seven lakh Pandits in Valley. Serious discussions and debates are going on among the various KP organizations over the issue in view of the recent statement of Hurriyat leader. Some KP leaders from Delhi who are in the Winter Capital at present and have visited here to participate in the all parties condolence meeting and the 10th Day Kriya of veteran KP leader and an RSS ideologue Amarnath Vaishnavi who breathed his last on July 1 have held various rounds of discussions with the community leaders on the issue. According to sources the leaders of various KP organizations including three factions of Panun Kashmir, J&K Vichar Manch, Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC), Kashmir Samiti Delhi (KSD) and Roots in Kashmir (RIK) are of serious opinion that all the Pandit organizations should unitedly fight for a separate homeland in Valley. Sources said that the Pandit leaders are of the view that the united struggle for homeland was the only alternative to the problem and there was no other option left for Pandits to claim their right over their motherland. The KP leaders who met at the all party condolence meeting here few days back and on 10th Day Kriya of Vaishnavi were of the serious opinion that the unity was pre-requisite for the community to take on Pandits detractors and enemies in the Valley. Moreover, forging of unity among the community has also become imperative after the demise of senior KP leader, sources said, adding some Pandit leaders from Delhi are still camping in Jammu to have detailed parleys with other leaders of community in Jammu. The KP leaders have decided to persuade the Kashmiri Pandit Sabha and other such factions who in past were opposing the separate homeland for the community in the Valley and were for settlement of displaced people at their original places. But Pandit leaders have made it clear to all such organizations who were for the settlement of displaced KPs in original places in Valley that the same was not possible in view of rejection of pluralism by the majority community in Kashmir. They have also made it clear to the leaders of these KP organizations that the Geelani's recent statement has vindicated the same. Meanwhile, Panun Kashmir led by Dr Ajay Chrungoo has also taken the serious exception of the statement of Geelani and reiterated their demand for separate homeland for Pandits in Valley. The PK chairman Dr Ajay Chrungo told reporters today that the outbursts of Geelani has vindicated the PK's stand on homeland. He outrightly rejected any return move on Kashmir minus homeland. Dr Ajay also expressed serious concern over the deteriorating situation in Kashmir and said PK is fully alive to the activation of cross border firing and infiltration, systematic and targeted attack on security personnel, brazen intimidation of all minorities in the Valley and growing stranglehold and stridency of regressive and radical forces. He said the Government claims of growing normalcy seem not only to be ridiculous but an attempt of criminal denial. PK sees the campaign of rejection of co-existence and pluralism as not only alive and kicking but attaining monstrous proportions. |
