| Pranab to visit Srinagar on July 15 | | Meeting, lunch for allies hosted at SKICC | | early times report
Jammu, July 13: UPA nominee for Presidential post Pranab Mukherjee who is on spree of visit to various states canvassing for the crucial elections for the coveted post is scheduled to visit J&K on July 15 . He will arrive in summer capital Srinagar where he would meet ministers, MPs and legislators belonging to ruling allies as well as of other parties.
Sources said the government has convened a meeting of Pranab Mukherjee at SKICC during which he would interact with all who matter in the electoral college of the Presidential polls. The allies of the coalition government NC and Congress have also organized lunch on the same day at Convention Centre. While ruling ally has already announced support in favor of UP nominee , formal whip would be issued day ahead of polls.
Sources said Congress leder nd JKPCC chief Prof Sif-uDin Soz nd other senior leaders of the party have begun canvassing for the crucial polls nd in this direction Prof Soz is in contact with legislators of other allies like PDF, independent legislators . formal invitation for the meeting with Pranab Mukherjee upon his arrival followed by lunch at SKICC is being extended to the legislators , sources said. While legislators of ll the parties will participate in the polls scheduled on July 19, it remains to seen whom the principle opposition PDP will support s Presidential candidate. Even though PDP high command is silent over the issues yet , sources within the party confirmed the party would also issue whip to its legislators to vote in favour of upa candidate Pranab Mukherjee. BJP apparently would vote in favour of Mukherjee's rival in the contest P Sangma . However, it remains to seen which way the legislators of J&K Panthers Party would finally go for this crucial polling.
