7/13/2012 11:32:03 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 13: Demanding the review of recently declared B.A./B.Sc./B.Com Part-I result, the state unit of National Student's Union of India (NSUI) today organized a protest in front of main gate of Jammu University.
The NSUI activists assembled at the Fountain Plaza of Jammu University under the leadership of their State Vice President NSUI Abhishek Koushal and started marching towards the main gate of the varsity. They locked the main gate and burnt the effigy of the Vice Chancellor.
Hundreds of students from different colleges of Jammu province demanded an inquiry into and review of the result, stating that nearly 65 % of the students have either failed or they are reappear.
The NSUI activists came out of the campus carrying posters and banners with warning and massages for Jammu University authorities to clean the mess in examination wing.
Shouting slogans against JU authorities for their alleged callous attitude, the NSUI activists also blocked the Railway road for some time resulting into disruption of the traffic movement.
Speaking on the occasion, Abishekh Koushal State Vice President, NSUI said that out of a total of 26712 students appearing for the Part-I examination, 9,547 emerged successful thereby making it an aggregate of 35 per cent result, which is very low and hence must be revised. He further said it is for the first time in that as per the figures, the numbers of students, who have been declared, re-appear is higher than those who failed, which clearly indicates about some big technical fault with university system and negligence on the part of university administration.
Koushal demanded the university must constitute an inquiry committee to look into the matter and must revise the result as soon as possible; failing which students would be on the streets in support of their demand.
