Kargil district totally ignored by NC: PDP | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, July 13: Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) today stressed for speed up of work on Jozila tunnel so that the remote and hilly Ladakh region would be accessible through out the year as the people of this region face hardships during the cut of period which remains for about six months. While interacting with various delegations while visiting the areas of Shaker Chikten, Samra, Hikmis, Shaker, Chikten and Sankoo etc, senior party leader and MLA Nizamudin Bhat lambasted the government for its failure to reach out to the general public in these remote areas to address their daily problems, roads, power, portable water and ration scarcity had made common life miserable. He was accompanied by senior leader Qazi Mohd Afzal and former Councillor of KHDC Kachoo Gulzar. Taking dig on the present dispensation for its hollow sloganeering of providing basic amenities to common masses, the PDP leaders said that promises made by NC have proven false. The people of Kargil particularly in remote villages are still living in dark, face ration scarcity with no drinking water facilities. Roads are in a dilapidated condition and the government is hardly paying attention to these issues. Various delegations recalled that in a brief period of PDP-Congress under Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, Kargil region had witnessed major development and establishment of Kargil Hill Council was one of the major achievements of that period. The delegations also said that the 2010 flood hit areas in which cultivated land and orchards were totally damaged have been neglected by the ruling party and yet no compensation had been provided to the effected families. Various other deputations including Kargil Employees Association, Beacon employees, Sankoo Welfare Association also met the PDP leaders. |
