Pak soldier repatriated | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 13: A day after capturing young Pakistani sepoy, Indian Army respectfully handed him over to the Pakistani army. Identified as Sepoy Arif Ali, the soldier had crossed over to the Indian side in Kerni sector of Poonch early Thursday morning. According to spokesman of the Ministry of Defence in Jammu, Pakistani soldier was handed over to the Pakistani army at Chakan-da-Bagh in Poonch around 10.00 a.m. During his stay with the Indian Army, Sepoy Arif Ali informed that he had left his unit, due to certain unfavourable conditions prevailing there and had deliberately crossed over to the Indian side. The spokesman said, after having confirmed his identity as a serving soldier of Pak Army, Indian Army decided to act as per the terms of the `Cease Fire Agreement' between the two countries. A message was passed over the hotline to the Pakistan army yesterday, expressing the intent to hand over their soldier. The Pakistan army responded promptly and agreed for a flag meeting this morning. Today he was brought to the Chakan-da-Bagh and repatriated respectfully, the spokesman added. |
