| VO Produces challan against Former JKHB Xen, CA&PD official | | | Srinagar, Feb 03 State Vigilance Organisation today produced challan against former Executive Engineer of J&K Housing Board Srinagar for possession of disproportionate assets worth over Rs.1.39 crores acquired by him by indulging in corrupt practices. Official spokesman told News Agency of Kashmir that State Vigilance Organisation registered Case FIR No.22/2005 P/S VOK on 09.07.2005 against the Executive Engineer following reliable reports that he has raised assets in the shape of movable and immovable property highly disproportionate to his known sources of income. In the course of investigation the State Vigilance Organisation detected assets in the shape of land, houses and bank deposits and LIC policies worth Rs.1.75 crores owned by the accused Xen during the check period. However, the income of the accused Xen was calculated to be only Rs.36.36 lakhs. Thus his assets were found to be disproportionate to his known sources of income by an amount of Rs.1.39 crores. Following immovable and movable assets of the accused engineer were seized Immovable Assets. Land measuring 1.9 kanals at Qamarwari purchased in 1984. Rupees 80,000 and two plots of land at SDA colony Bemina purchased through attorney in 2005 in the name of two daughters. Rs.18.00 lakhs besides two storeyed houses with attic at Hilalabad Qamarwari constructed in the year 1984 / 2002. Rs.25, 64,057/- Movable Assets, Maruti Car JK-01D-0459 purchased in 1998.Rs.2,05,778/-, Car JK01E-7493 Maruti 800 in the name of the two daughters of the accused purchased in 2002. Rs.1.80 lakhs, Car Hyundai JK01G-7658A purchased in the name of unemployed son in 2003 for Rs.6, 54,042/-Gold ornaments valuated as per the rates available in 2000. Rs.3, 60,096/-Bank balance in the name of accused and his dependants of Rs.61, 72,409/- Fixed deposits in the name of accused and his two daughters. Rs.6, 62,558/-10-Cash recovered from the house of the accused during searches on 09.07.2005 Rs.64, 875/- Cost of furniture items.Rs.1,37,291/-Cost of electronic items Rs.1, 87,600/-Cost of carpets and other furnishings. Rs.2.22 lakhs, Amount spent on subscription of LIC policies Rs.26, 02,888/-. It is worthwhile to mention that the accused Xen has earned interest worth Rs.6.72 lakhs from various bank deposits on the ill-gotten money earned through corrupt means during the check period. In pursuance of the amended Prevention of Corruption Act two plots of land situated at house colony Bemina owned by the accused Xen have been attached by the State Vigilance Organisation during the course of investigation and the attachment was upheld by the Competent Authority. Meanwhile, State Vigilance Organisation today produced challan against Assad-ullah Sheikh son of Mohammad Sultan Sheikh resident of Rathsun, Beerwah the then Storekeeper, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department Mirpora Sale Centre Beerwa in the Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar in Case FIR No.44/99 U/S 5(2) PC Act 2006, under Section 409 RPC of Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir. The said Storekeeper had misappropriated 335.34 Quintals of Rice (IR -8 Variety) and 1296 empty gunny bags valued at Rs. 2,93,039/-, during his posting in the said Sale Centre. |
