SCEF asks JU VC to look into SC employees grievances | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jul 14: Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Caste Employees Forum (JKSCEF) has urged vice-chancellor of Jammu University to look into alleged discrimination with schedule caste community. They raised this demand during a meeting of executive body of the forum. Members of the forum claimed that they checked seniority lists issued by administration of University of Jammu, State Board of School Education (SBSE), State Forest Corporation (SFC) and others and found that the quota reserved for SCs has not been filled in toto from the date these departments started providing reservation in services to the reserved categories. Forum members stated that the University of Jammu did constitute a Grievances Redressal Cell in 2002 but till date the Cell could not hold even a single meeting to decide cases of employees' grievance. They further stated that even after 11 years, the University authorities have failed to dispense justice to its SC employees. Several times, University Grants Commission instructed University to constitute standing committee for welfare of SCs but that too is not being constituted, they added. Members said that the Public Information Officer, J&K State Forest Corporation vide letter dated 1.6.2012 replied to the Forum under RTI Act that the Corporation had maintained complete record of backlog vacancies which were to be filled on priority against unreserved vacancies but till date no action has been taken by the Corporation to fill the same despite the fact that many SC employees in the Corporation have completed their minimum qualifying service and are eligible for promotion to next posts. Forum urged the Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu and others to get the backlog positions meant for SCs, filled up at their earliest convenience and also ensure that no SC employee suffers on any account in future. |
