Chemists asked to maintain record of regulated drugs

UDHAMPUR, July 14: District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, P.K Pole has called upon the members of the District Chemist Association (DCA) to come forward and share their responsibility to save the young generation , besides keeping a check on drug abuse and illegal drug trafficking.
Addressing a well attended joint meeting of officers and members of Chemist Association of the district, The DDC pointed out various adverse impacts of drug addictions and its devastating effects that might take alarming dimensions, if a vigorous social movement, involving all people, including the youth and guardians was not launched right now.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Ashkor Wani, Joint Director P&S, Rakesh Jamwal, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Anil Amla, Assistant Drug Controller, Munish Gupta, President Chemist Association, Sanjay Sharma and other functionaries of the association were present in the meeting.
"All of us have share the responsibility to ensure safe and legitimate access to prescription drugs", Pole said and asked the chemists to maintain proper record of regulated drugs. He also asked the chemist fraternity to keep a strict vigil on the people especially young generation who use to visit their Pharmacies for purchasing psychotropic drugs merely for addiction.
He stressed for strict ban on the sale of tobacco and its products near the educational institutions. He also said that the proper market check would also be made a regular feature to make the society drug free.
"It is the social responsibility of all of us to keep a close watch on those anti social elements who are spoiling future generation by supplying drugs and other banned drugs", said SSP.
SSP stressed for holding such type of interactions on a regular intervals to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to deal with this menace and getting optimum results on the ground.
Functionaries of the Chemist Association appreciated the efforts of District Administration for holding meaningful interactive session and assured all out cooperation of the Association for this noble cause.
