Carpenter turned politician switches to killings
`Tak's family ignorant of his whereabouts, activities'

Kishtwar, July 14: Travelling through bumpy roads, climbing the hard rock mountains, it took us 3 hours to reach "Maran" village of Nali Bhunzwah by foot from the nearest road point as the road leading to the village is not motorable.
Maran a simple village in Bhunzwah area of Kishtwar district having population of over 2500 had suddenly came into the lime light after much hyped Bollywood starlet murder accused Parvaiz Iqbal Tak was arrested by police on June 21from Jammu in connection with recovery of luxurious outlander vehicle of missing starlet Laila Khan from Om Mehta Road in Kishtwar on June 29,2012.
Laila is known for her role in Bollywood movie "Waffa" opposite yester year super star Rajesh Khanna. Tak a native of Maran village s still in shock two weeks after Tak confesses killing Laila and her 5 other family members in a gruesome murder with the help of his friend Shakir Hussain of Gundow.
The people here in Bhunzwah said that they were not aware about the Tak's activities. People said that before turning into the predator, he was a simple cheat who used to dupe the people. Tak's villager said that his life style witnessed a tremendous change soon after he contested the election in 2008 on Nationalist Congress Party ticket headed by Sharad Pawar. After losing elections in 2008, Parvaiz eldest among two brothers and a sister was working as a carpenter along with his younger brother and father before he left his native village after losing election.
As per Sakeena Begum, mother of Parvaiz Iqbal Tak, he was very sober by nature having love for poor people. She blames Sharad Pawar for abandoning his son after he (Tak) contested his election on NCP ticket. "We were not aware about his plan to contest election--- one day he came and told everyone at home that he was contesting election on NCP ticket as Sharad Pawar has given him a mandate on his party ticket.", said Shahida Begum younger sister of Tak.
Parvaiz's mother said he owed over Rs. 7 lacs to people that he borrowed for election since Sharad Pawar and his party members abandoned him soon after he lost the elections.
She said that they are poor people and their bread and butter is earned by her husband and younger son who are working as carpenters. She said that they still owe money to many people which Parvaiz borrowed from them for his election.
She said that soon after losing election, Parvaiz left Kishtwar and never disclosed his whereabouts to them. "Did you think any mother will let her children become criminals? She said that she and her family are not aware about his marriage and links with deceased actress and her family. "We came to know through newspapers--- I am illitarte and we too don't have any Television at home--- It was local people who informed us about his arrest by Kishtwar police", she said.
She added that neither she nor his husband met him during all those days when he remained with Kishtwar police. She said that she had a lot of concern for her 3 granddaughters and her daughter in law Tasleema. She said that they are helpless to fight his case in court of law since they don't have any financial resources to travel to Mumbai and hire a lawyer. She said that though his heart and mind could not believe that her son is involved in the killing, but said that God alone knows the truth. She said that if his son is innocent, God will make his life easy and the day will soon come when he (Tak) will be out of jail.
Some villagers in Bhunzwah who know Parvaiz sought death penalty for accuse Tak. "He did a heinous crime and brought a bad name to our area, killing of six people is not an easy thing--- he must be hanged", said Pretam Lal of Kewa Bhunzwah.
Sarpanch Jawalapur Farooq Ahmed though condemns the brutal killing of actress Laila Khan and her family members, but said that the people must stop looking towards Bhunzwah area through prism of crime. "People of Bhunzwah area are God fear and peace loving--- weather Tak is guilty or not is to be decided by the honorable court… if he is guilty, he should be given harsh punishment", Farooq added.
Tak's next door neighbor Nazir Ahmed Dev (70) said that he never saw him fighting with his family members. "I am my family never saw him after he lost the elections in2008", he said.
Tak's father in law Abdul Gani Butt also praises Tak for his respect which he used to give him. He said his only daughter among his 3 children is presently undergoing through trauma.
Butt said that Parvaiz was sober and soft hearted and said that he witnessed tremendous change in his attitude soon he left Kishtwar in 2009 after losing 2008 election. He said at the age of 70 years he is not in a position to fight for him. "What I can give to my daughter at this stage are the words of reconciliations for her and her 3 children's", said Abdul Gani Butt.
He said that news about his marriage in Mumbai came as a shock to him and his daughter. "First I thought to meet Parvaiz in police custody, but later decided against it keeping in view my own respect within the society", said Abdul Gani Butt. He said that he cannot comment whether Tak commited the crime or not. He said that his daughter under lot of depression since she heard about her husband's arrest. Neither Tak's wife nor his father was available for comment.
