| Mufti's Fair View attracts Cong leaders | | Rulers, Opposition unite to support Pranab | | ET Report
JAMMU, July 15: In a significant development, the rulers and the opposition today united to extend support to the UPA Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee. The `historic' meeting took place in SKICC. Later, the Presidential candidate visited Mufti's fair View at Gupkar Road. A number of Congress and opposition leaders also availed the opportunity to have a glimpse of the Fair View.
Before visiting Mufti's Fair View bungalow located on Gupkar Road, Pranab Mukherjee met legislature party of alliance partners at SKICC. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led the NC legislature party while Prof Saif-u-Din Soz was present with Congress legislators during the meeting.
Later, Sayeed told media persons that he knew Pranab Mukherjee for decades as an able, mature and talented colleague. He said he expected Mukherjee to win comfortably and remarked that he would make one of the best Presidents of the country.
Mukherjee was accompanied by the JKPCC chief Saif-u-Din Soz, Anant Sharma Union Minister for Commerce and Industries, Rajiv Shukla MoS Parliamentary Affairs, Narayan Swami and Madan Lal Sharma MP.
Senior PDP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Beig told Mukherjee that the party was sure that he would add to the prestige of the institution of the President of India. Besides him senior party leader Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, general secretary Mohammad Dilawar Mir and chief spokesperson of the party Naeem Akhtar were also present. |
