GoI's proposed move to shift RoC office to Srinagar draws flak, Jammu organizations warn agitation | | | early times report JAMMU, July 16: The proposed move to shift the Registrar for Companies (ROC) to Summer Capital from Jammu has drawn aflak with corporate houses and political parties openly opposing the move of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs Government of India and warned it of serious consequences. There is a lot of resentment among the business community in Jammu especially the corporate sector and Chattered Accountants as they apprehend the decision would put the people to lot of trouble and wastage of their money and time. The decision based on appeasement policy of Government of India to benefit its blue eyed boys in Kashmir Valley at the cost of the corporate sector and business community in Jammu region, said Sat Sharma, a Chartered Accountant and CA. He said there is lot of resentment among the companies in Jammu as they have to depute their CAs to Valley for filing of returns and other accounts, which will be a cumbersome process and time consuming. Moreover in view of the situation in Kashmir where the daily bands and strikes has been a routine affair and stone pelters are in the streets again it will be difficult for the ROC to operate from Valley as smoothly as it is functioning from Jammu region. Sat Sharma said that that Government has to justify its move regarding the shifting of office to Kashmir Valley as the move is slated to hit the business community of Jammu. ``This is a part of Government's discriminatory policy towards Jammu region which can't be tolerated any more'', he added. He said if the office was functioning for last 22 years in Jammu what was the fun of shifting the same to Srinagar. Moreover there is no logic of shifting it to Valley as out of 3600 companies 2300 are functioning in Jammu while only 1300 are functioning in Kashmir Valley. So the proposed move of Union Government has no logic, he added. He said the number of corporate professionals in Jammu is 80 percent more than their total strength in the state while the Jammu is main industrial hub in comparison to Kashmir Valley. Moreover in view of the fluid situation in Valley while the normal life is marred by daily bandhs and strikes, it will be very difficult for the CAs and other representatives of companies to visit Kashmir Valley for filing returns or doing other official work. Moreover the returns are to be filled in March month when the winter is on peak in Valley and people from Jammu region will be put to problem to visit Kashmir for any official work, he added. The move was also opposed by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and it warned the Government of serious consequences in case it goes ahead with the proposal and party will not allow the same to happen. A BSP spokesman said here today that after coming to know about the proposed move of the Government the BSP has decided to take the issue to people's court and it will join hands with other parties against the move and not hesitate in launching an agitation. The spokesman said that the issue was brought in the notice of party leadership by some Chartered accountants of Jammu and the Party assured them that BSP will fight the move tooth and nail. The Panthers Party, Shiv Sena and other bodies and trade and business have also opposed the move and warned that they will not hesitate in coming to streets in case the Government goes ahead with the proposal. Dogra Liberation Front (DLF) has also warned the Government against the move and asked it to refrain from giving a practical shape to same. DLF supreme Ram Paul also asked the Jammu based organizations to join hands and be prepared for a protracted strike for the common cause as the move is slated to put the corporate sector and business community to hardships, which will not be allowed to happen. |
