HC quashes interim bail to accused SPO | Throwing acid on young girl | | Jammu, July 17 (JNF): In a petition filed by the father of victim of acid throwing case challenging the interim bail granted Sanjeev Kumar SPO, Justice JP Singh of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Jammu Wing allowed the petition for quashing the order of Judicial Magistrate RS Pura dated June 5, 2012 whereby Judicial Magistrate granted interim bail to the accused, with the direction that Judicial Magistrate to consider the respondent's application for bail on its merit and in accordance with law after hearing the petitioner and the prosecution in the matter. Court further directed that respondent Sanjeev Kumar be produced before the Judicial Magistrate RS Pura on July 19, 2012 for appropriate orders on his custody. This significant order has been passed in a petition filed by Yash Pal father of victim of acid throwing girl seeking quashment of the order of Judicial Magistrate RS Pura dated June 5, 2012 whereby interim bail was granted to the accused till June 11, 2012 which was extended up to July 3, 2012. According to the police case that the accused Sanjeev Kumar who is an SPO in police dept has been chasing proposing to the young daughter of the petitioner, being no respond by the girl, used to threatened with dire consequence and also threatened to kill and atleast disfigure her so that she was not left and spared for marriage with any other person. The petitioner did not report to the police for fear that it will become public talk and will mar the future of his daughter. It is further submitted that the accused executed his nefarious criminal design. The accused did it on the evening of April 26, 2012 when the petitioner's daughter after alighting bus at main bus-stand was proceeding to her home at Banota Village and reached the Badyal Bus Adda. The Sanjeev Kumar suddenly came in front of petitioner's daughter and threw acid on her face which as the daughter tried to safe her face, it fell her on left cheek, left eye and left arm and forehead and which are totally disfigured and FIR was lodged. |
