Early Times Report
Jammu, July 17: Harsh Dev Singh NPP MLA and its working chairman has expressed grave concern over the non-initiation of construction work in respect of Ramnagar Satellite Campus of University despite sanction of adequate funds for the purpose more than a year back.
NPP leader Harsh said that the University Grants Commission had released Rs 11 crore for creation of infrastructure for Ramnagar Satellite University Campus during June 2011 but not a single penny has been expended till date.
He said that the local public of the area had even donated around 200 Kanals of land to the University free of cost which though had been taken over by the University but no construction activities had been initiated thereafter.
Flaying the lack-luster approach of University authorities as well as R&8 Deptt, he sought fixation of responsibility for the in-ordinate delay caused in the process. He regretted that University Authorities and R&B (PWD) Deptt were trying to shift the blame by accusing each other for the in-explicable delay caused in the construction of the University Complex.
He deplored the highly irresponsible, negligent and apathetic approach of the said departments in discharging their official responsibilities by initiating work on the sanctioned project. Harsh further appealed to the chancellor of the University, the Governor to personally intervene as the University Education fell within his domain. He urged upon the Governor to take stock of the progress and performance of University and Satellite Campuses sanctioned for various places in the state.
He also called for holding the University Council meet to review the functioning of the, Universities and their campuses and to further fix the responsibilities for omissions and commissions in the working of the said institutions in view of widespread public concern.
