| Interlocutors' was Musharraf's language: Sangh Parivar | | Delhi Dharna | | Neha
Jammu, July 17: The Sangh Parivar has, it seems, made up its mind to educate public opinion against the interlocutors' report on Jammu & Kashmir. The way it has been organizing debates and seminars across the country on the interlocutors' report during the past few weeks is an indication. The Parivar has organized seminars in Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangaluru, Chandigarh, Jammu, Delhi and several other major towns. Those who took part in these seminars and debates and those who spoke on the interlocutors' report left none in any doubt that it was imperative to throw out the report root and branch, as it negates the very Constitution of India and renders the 1994 Parliamentary resolution on Pakistan and Jammu & Kashmir redundant. They also left none in any doubt that the mother of all ills afflicting Jammu & Kashmir and the minorities, plus refugees of all varieties, including those from West Pakistan, Pakistan-occupied-Jammu & Kashmir and Kashmir Valley, and Jammu Pradesh and Ladakh is Article 370. They also held Jawaharlal Nehru and Congress responsible for the Indian troubles in Kashmir and underlined the need to do away with the special status the State enjoys. It's no wonder then that the Kashmiri politicians and separatists are feeling unnerved and aghast.
There are reports that the Central BJP leadership has also planned to hold a seminar in the New Delhi's prestigious India International Centre (IIC) on July 25 in which senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley will also participate and speak. Former chief interlocutor Dilip Padgaonkar will also be one of the speakers. These reports simply serve to prove the point that the Sangh Parivar, including BJP, has decided to make the interlocutors' report a big issue to corner the Congress and the UPA Government.
Yesterday, the Jammu-based Jammu Kashmir People's Forum (JKPF), an outfit floated by the RSS, organized dharna in Delhi to register opposition to the interlocutors' report. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, along with in-charge of J&K BJP Jagdish Mukhi and RSS leader Ram Madhav, spoke on the occasion. Sushma did not say anything new. She only raked up the issues which her colleagues like LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Arun Jaitley raked during the seminars on the interlocutors' report.
The only difference was that she used very strong language against the interlocutors. She criticized the interlocutors for describing Pakistan-occupied-Jammu & Kashmir as Pakistan-administered-Kashmir. She said the interlocutors used the language of former Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf. "The language of this report is the language of the separatists. It speaks about human rights violations of terrorists, but it has failed to include the voices of those who have been the real sufferers like those who have migrated from Pakistan. It was former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf who described the occupied areas as Pakistan-administered-Kashmir," she said, adding "instead of speaking about integration, the interlocutors have spoken about autonomy, self-rule and independence and sought to take us back in time". The recommendations and suggestions of the interlocutors "are beyond the confines of the Indian Constitution" and that the interlocutors "merely sung to the tunes of the separatists," she also said. Sushma, in addition, rejected outrightly the interlocutors' suggestion that a Constitution Committee be set up to review the laws that have been implemented after 1947 and opined that "it is an attempt to wipe off the efforts of leaders like Shyama Prasad Mookerjee".
The upshot of her whole address was that the Accession of Jammu & Kashmir with India is final and non-negotiable and that if the State is to be completely integrated into India, Article 370 has to go lock; stock and barrel. The fact that Advani, Sushma, Jaitley and other senior BJP leaders have been speaking in one voice could be taken to mean that the Sangh Parivar is up in arms against the interlocutors' report and what it contains. This is a positive development considering the fact that the BJP had during its rule allowed the Indian State to become soft. |
