Hats off to Randhir Singh
7/18/2012 12:51:04 AM

While certain disgruntled elements are hell bent to cause hindrances in the construction of Shaheed Major Akash Singh Dwaar, within their locality, there is a political party that had urged the State Government to name the fourth bridge on river Tawi after Major Akash Singh. The party is none other than the Jammu and Kashmir Nationalist Congress Party. Its State unit president Thakur Randhir Singh had in September 2009 demanded to name the fourth bridge on river Tawi after the said martyr. Pertinent to mention here that at that time Singh had stated that "Major Akash Singh was a brave officer. He sacrificed his life, but did not allow Pakistani militants to enter this side. We urge the State Government to name fourth bridge on the name of this brave officer as a tribute to him."
