JPPF condemns 'official observance' of July 13 as Black day | | | Early Times Report
LEH, July 18: Jammu Province People Forum (JPPF) has strongly opposed the 'official observance' of Martyrs' Day by the 'Kashmir centric government'. The resentment to the observance of Martyrs' day was raised in a meeting of JPPF chaired by its president Pavitter Singh Bhardwaj. While speaking on the occasion the president pointed out deep conspiracy hatched by Kashmiri leaders in connivance with British rulers to malign the secular image of Dogra rulers of the state a conspiracy was hatched in which an unruly scene was created outside Central Jail Srinagar on July 13, 1931 resulting in serious law and problem which caused deaths of the law breakers by the police. The calculated aftermath was thrashing of many Kashmiri Hindus and burning down their shops and houses ultimately resulting in en-mass exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Valley. Kashmiri Hindus observe this day as Black Day. The members termed the observance of Martyrs' Day as foundation of communal hatred and appealed to government not to air the religious sentiments every year. Maintenance of communal harmony and the secular fabric in the state is in the interest of both the government and the public.Present in the meeting besides others, Injerjeet Khajuria, Prof Virender Sharma, Gajan Singh Khajuria, MS Katoch, Rajiv Mahajan, ML Sharma, Avinash Bhatia, Amrit Magotra, Gajan Singh Akali, Sunita Sharma and Rajesh Kesri. |
