Farmers' delegation calls on Agriculture Minister, apprises various problems | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 18: A delegation of different farmers' organizations meets Agriculture Minister Gulam Hassan Mir to apprise various difficulties and problems faced by the farming community during the current kharief season. Led by President, J&K Kissan Council, Tajinder Singh, the delegation demanded that there is immediate need of implementing of agriculture policy in our state to provide benefits to 82 percent of the total population of our state. Singh said that the situation is alarming due to the adverse climate condition which has changed the whole system of agriculture. Vegetables, flowers and fruit crops have loosed in temperate belts due to dry spell to overcome this problem it is immediate needed to provide national irrigation benefits at 90% subsidy to small and marginal farmers of our state. Expressing various problems and difficulties being faced by the farmers due to less monsoon Karan Singh, President Kissan Union Samba said there is immediate need of community water scheme in the area of Samba so that farmers of kandi area can sow their crops timely and demanding more and timely help for mushroom development in Jammu province. Ch Dev raj President Basmati growers Association demanded that availability of timely fertilizers for basmati growing area is urgently needed as there is shortage of D.A P. and scarcity of irrigation and electricity in border areas. |
