| Teaching who cares, better to sit on beck and call of Ministers | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 18: It is ironical that on one side the State Government is spending crores of rupees on providing quality education to the children pursuing studies in Government schools while on the other the teachers rather than paying attention to impart education to the students are focusing on 'lucrative attachments'.
There are some 'blue eyed teachers', who by way of their connections with the high and mighty have managed to get themselves placed as Public Relations Officers (PROs) to several Ministers and Chairmen of different Boards thereby literally leaving the students at the mercy of God.
According to sources, there are some Ministers and Chairmen who have attached lecturers and Master Grade teachers to serve them which in the process is causing great hardship to the several secondary level students for whom the class teaching from 10th to 12th is very crucial as this stage and is considered to be the foundation for their future careers.
Sources further revealed that a teacher and lecturer are attached with a Senior Cabinet Minister in the Council of Ministers of Omar Abdullah led NC-Congress coalition Government.
The said lecturer who is serving the senior Minister is believed to be attached with the latter for the last nine years.
While another Minister of the coalition Government is also taking the services of a teacher as PRO, who before joining the VIP was appointed in one of the ZEO Offices of Jammu district.
Further informing, the sources said one Master Grade Teacher is serving the Personal Section of the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control while a teacher is serving the Deputy Chairman of Gujjar & Bakerwal Board.
The sources said that it is not the end of the list as Minister of State for Cooperatives Manohar Lal, Minister of State for Power Shabir Khan and Pahari Advisory Board is also enjoying the services of teacher as well as Master Grade teachers. |
